Richard Tranmer – Head Chef

Richard has worked in the catering industry for over 30 years. He began his career working in London Hotels and spent time at The Royal Lancaster and The Savoy, and also cut his teeth at Sopwell House in St Albans under Executive Chef Andrew Bennett.

His career has included opening Gastro Pubs and fine dining restaurants in London and in addition Richard spent many years working for some of the leading companies in the event sector of the industry – these include Rocket, Rhubarb, Mustard, Admiral Crichton and Alison Price, to name but a few.

During this time he had the pleasure of working alongside some great chefs including Angela Hartnett, Bruno Loubet, Wolfgang Puck and Anna Haugh.
Richard was the senior Sous Chef for Curtis Stone during his time at Bluebird in Chelsea and learned a lot under Curtis’s tutelage. More recently he has been working in high end B&I sites and production kitchens, and he is proud to have been chosen to run the Afro Caribbean and Halal kitchen in the athletes’ dining room at the London 2012 Olympics.

Now with us at Fuel, his love of world food styles is reflected in our menu ranging from Asian, Mediterranean, European to South American.
Richard enjoys relaxing by training in martial arts and blacksmithing, making his own kitchen knives.

James Prichard (Mr P) – Sous Chef

Ever present in the Fuel kitchen since it opened last October, Mr P, who many of you will know from the gym, began life as a qualified teacher, and also worked for many years in the banking industry.

Food has been a passion of his since he received his first cookery book one Christmas, aged about 14. (‘Keep it Simple’ by Alastair Little, if you’re interested). Always reading about food, or cooking at home, his first involvement with Fuel came over a year ago, during the first lockdown, where he helped take Gym Grub brand online. He was involved in writing recipes, creating video demonstrations and working out macros for a first set of recipes to come out of what is now the Fuel kitchen.

Having left the teaching profession in Summer 2020, he was asked to assist in setting up the first Fuel kitchen and he is now an integral part of not only the Fuel food production, but also in the recipe development, food photography, supplier sourcing & ordering, and social media for the Fuel brand.

When he has any spare time, he still enjoys training and is an avid supporter of Welsh rugby.

Jordan Ware – Kitchen Assistant

Jordan joined the Fuel team earlier this year after completing the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma for Professional Chefs course at the local West Herts College. The youngest member of the Fuel team, he joined us initially as a kitchen assistant but is now putting his knowledge into practice and has taken on a much wider range of responsibilities in recent months.

He now plays an increasing part in both food preparation, cooking and recipe ideas and his calm temperament is a definite asset in what can be a very hot kitchen!

Jordan is a passionate fan of Liverpool FC and enjoys gaming when not in the kitchen.

Our Suppliers

The JJK Fuel philosophy is that we would like our food to come from traceable, ethical and sustainable sources. We want to know that our ingredients are of the best possible quality. With that in mind, we select our suppliers carefully.

Our Butchers – R. Owton & Sons

For our meat, we use Owton’s, based in Hampshire and suppliers not only to small businesses like ourselves, but also to well-known high end London restaurants.
Founded in 1976, Owtons Traditional Family Butchers has established itself as one of the premier wholesale butchers and farm shop proprietors in the country, continuing to thrive with a passion for delivering best customer service, quality, knowledge and advice.
Their meat is ethically reared and is consistently of high quality.

Our Fishmongers – Fish4Kings

Founded in 1998, Fish4Kings is a family run business. Operating a fleet of their own boats out of Brixham in North Devon, their hauls are landed fresh every morning and then transported immediately to London for processing. They supply many West End restaurants and a number of Premier League Football clubs with their fish and shellfish.

Our Greengrocer – Rossco

Founded in 2017 by Ross Hampton, who some of you may recognise from the gym at JJK, Rossco provide us with high quality fruit and vegetables, sourced daily at market. Supplier to names such as Michelin starred restaurant Galvin, Arsenal FC, Watford FC & Luton Hoo Hotel, Rossco also supply a number of other restaurants and schools, as well as operating a traditional greengrocers store.
Ross is always happy to go the extra mile and we are proud to have him as our greengrocer.

Sustainability

At Fuel, whilst we want to make the world a healthier place, we want to do this in a sustainable way. As we evolve as a business, we are committed to doing this is as ethically as possible.
We try to source our ingredients from as close to the kitchen as we reasonably can, thus trying to reduce the impact on the environment, and keeping the ‘farm to fork’ miles as low as possible.
We recycle as much of our waste as we possibly can.
Our meal boxes are made using pulp-based material that is free of harmful plastics. Because they are made from natural materials, they are easily compostable.
Our lids contain PP plastics, which are widely recyclable at most local authorities.
Our kitchen itself is actually made using a recycled shipping container!
We will continue to evolve and improve our sustainability strategy as the business grows.
